On 22 Shawwal 1444 AH, corresponding to May 12, 2023, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces signed what became known as the “Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians of Sudan.” Dr. Bahauddin Makawi was invited to discuss the declaration and assess its prospects for successfully contributing to an end to the war in Sudan.
