The effectiveness of political parties refers to their ability to perform well politically and to have an influential impact on the political arena. In this context, five indicators were discussed through which the effectiveness of a political party can be measured. The most important of these indicators include: the organizational structure of the party; the popular support base that supports the party, including organized membership and party supporters; the nature of the party’s program that it adopts and seeks to achieve if it wins elections, and the extent to which it corresponds with the demands and needs of the public; the type of party leadership, mechanisms of political succession, opportunities for advancement within party structures, and the possibility of replacement and renewal in the party’s leadership positions; and the sources of funding on which the party relies for its programs and activities conducted in the political arena.
The lecture also explained how to measure the effectiveness of a political party through a specific model developed specifically for this purpose (measuring political party effectiveness).
